This position is a union position; therefore, provisions of the relevant collective bargaining agreement/labor contract apply to the filling of this position.
- Under general supervision of the Bureau Chief, serves as the staff training coordinator for the Bureau of Meat and Poultry Inspection.
- Organizes, plans, develops and facilitates the Meat and Poultry Inspectors (MPIs) and Meat and Poultry Inspector Trainees (MPITs) training program.
- Facilitates training sessions, maintains training attendance records, and distributes training materials.
- Serves as the training liaison for the Bureau of MPI with communication and implementation of new initiatives, notices, directives and guidelines for the inspection staff.
- Reviews and evaluates audit findings regarding the Meat and Poultry Inspection training programs.
- Provides staff training on meat product label requirements.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
- Requires 3 years of experience as a meat and poultry inspector, an inspector supervisor, or Enforcement Investigations and Analysis officer.
- Requires passage of United States Department of Agriculture Food Safety Inspection Services course in inspection methods or similar equivalent training.
- Knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with coursework in business or public administration.
