The Positron Emission Tomography-Computed Tomography Technologist is responsible for utilizing positron-emitting and gamma-emitting radioactive materials for diagnostic imaging purposes, PET instrumentation may be combined with CT to generate attenuation correction for PET and to produce three-dimensional images with or without contrast to enhance the evaluation of physiological processes at a molecular level. Also responsible for the use of sealed and unsealed radioactive materials for diagnostic imaging purposes.

Principal Responsibilities- Order, measure, administer, record, store and dispose of radioisotopes.
- Participate in departmental inspections conducted by various licensing, regulatory and accrediting agencies.
- Operate PET and SPECT imaging systems with or without sealed sources of radioactive materials, x-ray tubes and diagnostic CT.
- Recognize emergency patient conditions and initiate life-saving first aid when appropriate.
- Properly identify, prepare, calculate, document, and administer adjunctive medications used during PET procedures.
- Perform all procedures and quality assurance testing by utilizing ionizing radiation safely and effectively in accordance with federal and state regulations and institutional policies.
- Recognize and respond to adverse reactions to contrast material.
- Perform decontamination procedures in accordance with federal and state regulations if necessary.
- Document lab procedures by utilizing non-imaging instrumentation of dose calibrators, survey instruments, probes, and wells.
- Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
- Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy.
- Provide excellent customer service and adhere to SC Way customer service philosophy.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
- Must be a graduate of an accredited program.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in PET-CT and SPECT imaging.
- Possess and maintain active licensure with the IL Emergency Management Agency (IEMA).
- Possess and maintain current PET-CT registration with the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
- certification per American Heart Association guidelines required within 30 days of hire.
Skills and Abilities
- Proficient in venipuncture.
- Must possess manual dexterity to use a keyboard and handle equipment.
- Must be able to walk and/or stand for long periods.
- Capable of pushing, pulling, stooping, bending and lifting.
Molecular Imaging Department clinical setting.
