Admixture/Pharmacy Technician

Willamette Valley Cancer Institute is looking for a pharmacy technician to help prepare, maintain, and deliver medications for our patients. The pharmaceutical treatment of cancer is a specialized, ever‑changing field. Our pharmacy department has both retail and admixture departments that support our patients’ treatment journey. This position also allows technicians with strong retail experience to build on their skills and work toward higher levels of the pharmacy technician scope.

General pay scale for this position at WVCI is $18.00 – $36.90 per hour. The actual rate depends on many factors, including but not limited to prior work experience, education, job/position responsibilities, location, work performance, etc.

• Assists with the preparation of medication orders by compounding or admixing medications.
• Checks all orders for completeness of information. Verifies patient information and proper physician authorization.
• Admixes drugs as ordered by physician in an accurate and timely manner as per department guidelines and preparing all drugs within OSHA guidelines and interoffice guidelines.
• Calculates correct dosage volumes, converting between metric and apothecary equivalents.
• Properly disposes all materials used when mixing chemo or non‑chemo IVs. Assists in cleaning hoods daily checking drugs monthly for outdates and other quality assurance activities as assigned.
• Assists in keeping accurate temperature logs, accurate logs on all protocol drugs and patient assistance drugs.
• Maintains proper control documentation of medications including lot numbers. Provides support with inventory control of medications. Prepares labels. Files and prepares billing. Basic data entry into department automation.
• Other duties as assigned.

• High School or Equivalent.
• 1 – 3 years of experience in a pharmacy.
• Pharmacy Technician Certificate Required.

Requires sitting/standing for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to direct contact with patients with potential for exposure to toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and chemotherapeutic agents.
