Responsibilities
  • Support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within your store. Technicians are often the first point of contact to assist patients and customers to deliver an exceptional experience.
  • Ensure pharmacy operations run smoothly, prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately, and provide caring service that exceeds patient expectations.
  • Operate as part of the pharmacy team through consistent application of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), best practices, and effective communication.
  • Contribute to a safe and inclusive culture where all people feel valued and empowered.
  • Complete a rigorous company training program and satisfy all registration, licensing, and certification requirements according to state Board of Pharmacy guidelines. Duties may be restricted until requirements are met.
  • Contribute to safe and effective operations of the pharmacy, including inventory activities, such as putting away deliveries, completing cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, waiting bin inventories, etc.
  • Contribute to a high-performing team, embrace a growth mindset, and seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge to better assist patients.
  • Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs; travel to stores in the market to work shifts as needed.
  • Understand and comply with all applicable laws, regulations, professional standards, and CVS policies to ensure patient safety and privacy.
  • Deliver additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point-of-care testing, offsite clinics) where allowed by law and supported by training.
  • Where permissible, support immunizations, including obtaining Technician Immunizer status and educating patients about vaccines, monitoring for adverse reactions, and managing vaccine supplies.
Required Qualifications
  • Must comply with state board of pharmacy requirements or laws, including age, education, and licensure/certification.
  • If no minimum age is mandated, must be at least 16 years old.
  • If no minimum educational requirement is mandated, must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or a high school equivalency program.
  • State-level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state.
Essential Functions
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe.
  • Attention and focus: concentrate on tasks, pivot between tasks, confirm prescription information and labeling accuracy.
  • Customer service and team orientation: help people in a friendly manner and respond to patient reactions appropriately.
  • Communication skills: verbal and written communication with patients and colleagues; active listening.
  • Mathematical reasoning: calculate dosage, days’ supply, and bottle counts as needed.
  • Problem resolution: identify challenging interactions and choose appropriate actions.
  • Physical demands: mobility, lifting, reaching, repetitive finger work, fine motor tasks, vision requirements, and lifting up to 20 lbs as applicable.
  • Additional tasks as directed by supervisor or manager.
