Patient Access Specialist - PRN at Ensemble Health Partners
OverviewWe are seeking a Patient Access Specialist who will perform admitting duties for patients admitted for services at the hospital. The role supports regulatory compliance and aligns with the organization’s policies and processes across the enterprise.
Job Responsibilities- Assign accurate MRNs, perform medical necessity / compliance checks, provide patient instructions, collect insurance information, receive and process physician orders, and utilize an overlay tool while delivering excellent customer service (measured by Press Ganey).
- Operate the telephone switchboard for incoming, outgoing, and inter-office calls in accordance with policies and with appropriate compassion; meet point-of-service goals.
- Utilize quality auditing and reporting systems to correct accounts, conduct audits, complete forms accurately and timely, and provide statistical data to Patient Access leadership.
- Pre-register patient accounts prior to visits, including inbound/outbound calls to obtain demographics, insurance, and other patient information, as well as determine patient financial liabilities and collection at point of service with payment plan options.
- Explain general consent for treatment forms, obtain necessary signatures, and distribute patient education documents and forms for future services.
- Review insurance eligibility responses and enter benefit data to support POS and billing to help maintain a clean claim rate.
- Screen medical necessity using ABN software for Medicare patients and distribute ABN and other required forms and pamphlets as appropriate.
- 1+ years of customer service experience
- High School Diploma / GED Required
- CRCR Required within 9 months of hire (Company Paid)
This position is onsite at HSHS - St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. Compensation ranges from $17.00 to $18.15 per hour, based on experience.
