This position serves as a Computer Support Specialist requiring enthusiastic customer service skills and strong technical skills. Essential Functions- Under general supervision, serves as a Computer Support Specialist for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT), performing technical work of an intermediate level of difficulty in Client Services and providing technical support and assistance to end users of multiple State of Illinois agencies, boards, and commissions, including participating with senior analysts in the configuration of personal computing devices.
- Provides intermediate level on-site and remote troubleshooting and support services for agency computer customers and equipment, including providing accurate and quality resolutions to users reported problems with computer hardware, software and related peripherals or services on a statewide basis.
- Transfers equipment from DoIT warehouse to staging operations area for imaging, validates equipment received against Service Now documents, and documents receipt of equipment in designated site logs.
- Participates with senior analysts in the configuration, testing, installation, documentation, and maintenance of desktop/laptop systems and related peripheral systems to ensure configurations comply with agency security considerations, performance requirements, and established standards.
- Assists higher level staff in conducting training sessions for end users and staff and evaluates the training sessions.
- Keeps abreast of new developments in the information technology field by continuing education through online training platforms, meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on products, vendors, techniques, and procedures.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
