The blaster prepares surfaces for painting and finishing between the fabrication of the raw sheet metal and the welding of the material. There is a degree of physicality to the position in order to move the material between pallets and the blast booth. This position works in a full body-suit while using blasting equipment in the blast booth.
Job Duties- Prepares, primes, sands, seals, patches and inspects the surface of the metal in order to maintain our high-quality standards.
- Operates, cleans and maintains all equipment, including tanks, hoses, sprayers and pumps, etc.
- Safely stores and labels all materials.
- Maintains and repairs/replaces all personal protective equipment.
- Responsible to set up and maintain operation of the blast booth.
- Loads and moves materials within the area, and between departments using manual pallet jack
- Ability to left up to 100 pounds; 30 – 50 pounds regularly
- Demonstrated ability to operate and use required tools and equipment skillfully and safely
- Ability to safely operate a manual pallet jack
- Must be able to work for extended periods of time with a protective suit
- Experience using standard measuring tools (i.e. micrometers and gauges)
- Attention to detail while inspecting for company quality standards
- Minimal computer usage in tracking job flow in department
- Ability to use sander and grinder
- Must be able to communicate (read, write and speak) the English language clearly
