The Trauma/Burn Unit is a high-energy unit focused on the intensive care and treatment of patients with critical illnesses due to trauma or burn injuries. This unit offers opportunities for learning and growth alongside a team of experienced healthcare professionals including nurses, doctors, respiratory therapists, social workers, and pharmacists.
Registered nurses in this unit will receive education and certifications to support their development in this role.
Springfield Memorial Hospital is a Regional Burn Center serving a wide region across central and southern Illinois. The ICU provides intensive care for burn patients before transferring them to a lower level of care and rehabilitation.

QualificationsLicensure/Certification/Registry:
- Licensed as RN in the State of Illinois.
- Current BLS/CPR certification per policy.
Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to position and transfer adult patients, with sufficient coordination for patient care duties.
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
- Skill in performing procedures such as IV insertion and IM injections.
- Exposure to blood, bodily fluids, tissues, contagious diseases, and potentially hazardous materials is possible in this environment.
