- Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital, Level I Trauma Center
- Unit: Medical/Surgical (General Med-Surg & Overflow Stroke Unit)
- Shift: 3x12-Hour Nights (18:45 - 07:15)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 1/26/2026 – End: 4/27/2026)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Patient Ratio: 1:5
- Charting: Cerner EMR
- Scrub Color: Any solid color
- Parking: Free with permit
- Active Illinois RN license required
- Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg RN experience
- BLS (AHA or Red Cross) and NIHSS certifications required
- First-time travel nurses welcome
- Ability to float to other Medical/Surgical and similar units as needed
- Experience with Cerner charting system preferred
- Previous charge nurse, Level I Trauma, or community hospital experience preferred
- Must be able to work 2 out of 3 major holidays if assignment overlaps
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a fast-paced Med/Surg unit
- Manage diverse diagnoses including respiratory illness, infection, stroke, trauma, and surgical overflow
- Perform nursing procedures: dressing changes (including wound vacs), chest tube management, IV medication administration, central line care, foley catheter care, drain care, tube feedings, and wound care
- Interpret labs and diagnostic tests to support patient treatment plans
- Utilize advanced skills: cardiac monitoring, emergency response, telemetry, post-angiogram/post-MI care, IV insulin protocols, colostomy and feeding tube management, renal failure and pre/post hemodialysis management, blood product administration
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams: IV, respiratory, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
- Float to other units within scope as needed to support facility needs
- Maintain isolation precautions and adhere to infection control protocols
