Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care (IMC) position with telemetry experience and an active IL RN license requirement.
Responsibilities- Work in the Intermediate Care Unit (IMC) of an acute care Level I trauma center
- Patient population includes cardiac, post-cardiac procedures, renal, respiratory, and neurological cases
- Average daily census is 38 patients
- Night shifts available with 3x12 or 4x12 hour schedules (18:45–07:15)
- Required to work every other weekend
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required to similar units within scope as needed
- Cerner EMR experience required
- Provide care for complex cardiac, renal, neurological, and respiratory intermediate care patients
- Manage post-procedure and critically ill telemetry patients and respond to emergency situations
- Work in a Magnet-designated, teaching hospital environment
- Scrubs may be any solid color
- Parking permit required and provided at no cost
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Maximum of 5 days of requested time off
- Local candidates are accepted with no radius restrictions
- Active IL RN license required at time of application
- Must have current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent IMC, Telemetry, Cardiac Tele, PCU, DOU, Stepdown, or Med/Surg Tele experience required
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry (on-unit and remote)
- Skills required:
post-cardiac catheterization, sheath removal, TR band, feeding tube management, pre/post hemodialysis management, arterial and central line care, blood product administration, IV therapy, and medication protocols including drips and PCA - Respiratory equipment experience required, including chest tubes, external CPAP/BIPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway management
- Experience with wound care/wound vac, isolation precautions, and surgical drain management required
- Cerner EMR experience required
- Previous charge experience preferred
- Teaching hospital and Level I trauma experience preferred
