Description

American Traveler is hiring an Emergency Department RN with Level I trauma experience, requiring ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, and an active IL license.

Details
  • 56-bed Emergency Department with an average daily census of 175 patients
  • Combined adult/pediatric emergency department setting at a Level I trauma center
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours )
  • Works every other weekend
  • No on-call requirements
  • No floating required outside of scope
  • Cerner EMR used for charting
Requirements
  • Active IL RN license required (or in active application process with ETA to apply)
  • Minimum 2 years of ED nursing experience required
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC
  • Preferred certifications: NIHSS, NRP, and TNS
  • General ED experience with combined adult/pediatric population required
  • Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills required, including dysrhythmia interpretation/management, multisystem organ dysfunction management, and 12-lead EKG acquisition
  • IV therapy and phlebotomy skills required, including blood product administration, phlebotomy, and IV starts
  • Medication administration experience required, including continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation
  • Neurological case experience required for CVA, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
  • Orthopedic splinting skills required
  • Pediatric case experience required across abdominal pain, asthma, head injury, infections, poison ingestion, respiratory infections, seizures, skin disorders, and abuse identification/reporting
  • Psychiatric case experience required, including acute psychosis, drug overdose, violent behavior management, and suicidal patients
  • Respiratory case experience required, including chest tube insertion/management and intubation
  • Isolation precautions and triage experience required
  • Cerner charting experience required
  • SSN and date of birth required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Level I trauma center and Magnet-designated facility
  • Floating required to other units within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities
  • Teaching hospital and Level I/II trauma experience preferred
  • Any solid color scrubs permitted
  • Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
  • Previous permanent or PRN employees of the hospital system must have separated from the facility for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
  • RTO should ideally be no more than 5 days
  • Candidates must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
