Position Overview

The Department of Military Affairs is looking to hire a Refrigeration and Air Conditioner Repairer located at the Camp Lincoln Facility. Under general supervision, performs a variety of tasks requiring knowledge of mechanical systems to include the installation, maintenance, and repair of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment at various locations throughout the Central IL region.

Essential Functions
  • Makes major and minor repairs to refrigeration and air conditioning equipment along with associated building management controls system/equipment in accordance with operations and maintenance manuals, blueprints, or engineering specifications.
  • Inspects and performs reoccurring maintenance on all equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations and the preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Prepares and submits requisitions for supplies, equipment, and tools necessary in the daily operation of all mechanical equipment.
  • Completes work orders accurately and in a timely fashion, including all paperwork and/or associated data entry requirements pertinent to repair, maintenance, and daily operations.
  • Assists, instructs, and monitors skilled and unskilled maintenance workers to as it pertains to the repair of refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
  • Performs additional duties are required or assigned, which are reasonably associated within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of 4 years of high school.
  • Requires an associate degree or the successful completion of an approved training program in refrigeration and air conditioning (CFC/HCFC certification).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefers common understanding and basic experience using elementary computer software.
  • Prefers elementary knowledge of one or more of the building and mechanical trades.
  • Prefers the ability to instruct and direct unskilled workers.
  • Prefers working knowledge of maintenance tools, equipment, materials, and standards of the trade.
  • Prefers the ability to follow oral and written instructions including blueprints and other diagrams.
Conditions of Employment
  • Requires the ability to pass a DoD background investigation and obtain a DoD Common Access Card (CAC) prior to hire or transfer.
  • Requires possession of an appropriate valid driver’s license pertaining to equipment operated.
