Location: Springfield Residential – 2200 Lake Victoria Dr, Springfield, IL 62703

Residential Center: Adult Male and Female population

Work Schedule:

  • Monday, Wednesday & Friday: 9 AM – 5 PM
  • Tuesday & Thursday: 7 AM – 3 PM

Drivers are responsible for:

  • Drive vehicles to safely transport clients to appointments, special events and recreational activities, and to pick‑up or deliver equipment or supplies; conduct other miscellaneous business errands as needed.
  • Schedule and coordinate transportation needs for assigned facilities or programs by planning and prioritizing trips in cooperation with treatment team members.
  • Monitor client behavior during transport, maintain order in vehicle and ensure the safety of passengers; report client incidents or inappropriate behaviors to treatment team members.
  • Maintain documentation of trip mileage, destinations and passenger rosters; fuel and clean vehicle; perform minor maintenance tasks and schedule periodic vehicle maintenance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to operate a multi‑passenger motor vehicle safely and efficiently, provide transportation services and perform vehicle maintenance at a level normally acquired through two to three years of related experience.
  • Current valid driver’s license in state of hire required. Must be at least 21 years of age and possess and maintain a safe driving record for the past 2 years. May be required to maintain a Class C driver’s license to operate multi‑passenger vans.
  • Analytical skills necessary to understand and comply with traffic laws, drive defensively and observe clients and report relevant behaviors and interactions to treatment team.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to drive an automobile and van, remain alert to traffic conditions, and to identify and comply with traffic signals and signs.
  • Ability to speak with others in order to exchange information and provide counseling support.
  • Ability to record and proofread information on forms and charts.
  • Ability to respond to telephones and pages and hear speech.

Compensation (based On Experience):

  • $15.00 – $18.23 per hour
  • Gateway Foundation conducts annual reviews including merit increases.
