Accounting Specialist

Description

We're hiring an Accounting Specialist for a contract opportunity in Springfield, Massachusetts. This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys working across a variety of accounting functions, stays organized, and takes pride in keeping financial information accurate and up to date.

In this position, you'll support key day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and reconciliations. You'll play an important role in helping financial processes run smoothly, ensuring records are accurate, and supporting timely payments and collections. What you'll do:

+ Process vendor invoices, review supporting documentation, and help ensure payments are completed accurately and on time

+ Manage incoming customer payments, apply cash receipts correctly, and assist with following up on outstanding balances

+ Prepare and send billing documents, check charges for accuracy, and help resolve invoicing discrepancies

+ Reconcile account balances regularly, research variances, and make corrections as needed

+ Support general accounting activities by updating financial records, organizing documentation, and assisting with routine reporting

+ Partner with internal teams to address billing questions, payment issues, and account discrepancies in a timely manner

+ Maintain organized, accurate, and accessible accounting records for review and reporting purposes

Requirements - At least 2 years of experience in an accounting support role with exposure to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and billing activities.

- Working knowledge of account reconciliation principles and day-to-day accounting processes.

- Ability to review financial information carefully and identify errors, inconsistencies, or missing details.

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines consistently.

- Proficiency in standard office and accounting systems used for transaction processing and record maintenance.

- Effective written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with internal stakeholders and resolving account-related issues.
