Shriners Children’s New England invites applications for a full‑time Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon position in Springfield, MA. In this role, you’ll manage a diverse caseload of pediatric orthopedic patients, perform surgeries, and oversee clinic operations. Job DescriptionAs a Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon at Shriners Children’s New England, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional care to children up to age 18.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing pre‑operative, peri‑operative, and post‑operative care in the operating room, handling cases such as tendon releases, fracture repairs, lower extremity procedures, ACL reconstructions, patella femoral reconstructions, and meniscal injuries.
- Attending weekly outpatient clinics, directly examining patients and supervising clinic staff to ensure seamless operations.
- Managing an average patient volume of 2‑4 surgeries per week in the OR and 14‑18 patients per day in clinic, covering a wide range of conditions including sports injuries, neuromuscular disorders, lower extremity malalignments, and cleft lip and palate‑related orthopedics.
- Collaborating with a team of 8 pediatric orthopedic surgeons and advanced practice providers (APPs) for robust support.
- Utilizing Cerner for OR documentation and Epic for clinic EHR systems.
Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM (typically 2 OR days and 3 clinic days). No emergency call expectations, allowing for excellent work‑life balance.

RequirementsTo thrive in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
- Completion of an ACGME‑accredited orthopedic surgical residency program.
- Completion of a fellowship in pediatric orthopedic surgery.
- Board certification or eligibility from the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.
- 2‑5 years of post‑fellowship clinical experience preferred; however, recent fellowship graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Interest or experience in sports medicine is preferred but not required.
- Full COVID‑19 vaccination status required.
- Eligibility for or possession of a Massachusetts state medical license (licensure in surrounding states is a plus).
- Eligibility for or possession of a DEA license.
- Valid BLS, PALS, and ALS certifications.
