This entry‑level Civil Engineer position focuses on land development and infrastructure for industrial projects, designing and building new food and beverage process facilities. Civil Engineers have strong technical and design ability and excellent communication skills in designing land development plans, building pads, infrastructure for new buildings, landscaping, and everything from the foundation and below. They are part of the Building Systems department and work closely with Structural Engineers and Architects/Designers, and are involved with bid evaluation and local contractor initial contact in multiple project locations.
Basepay range
$75,000.00/yr - $80,000.00/yr
Responsibilities- Perform basic design tasks. Assist on other tasks such as: preparation of permit applications, drawings and CAD work.
- Perform basic procurement tasks such as bid list development, contractor initial contact, bid tabulation, and preliminary bid evaluation.
- Acquire basic drawing literacy; develop an understanding of discipline specific plan elements, and how to navigate a set of drawings.
- Perform basic construction administration tasks including submittal review.
- Develop site basis of design document.
- Develop parking lot layout that satisfies development ordinances and regulations.
- Analysis and detailed design of institutional, industrial, and commercial buildings sites.
- Determine land use characteristics and assign runoff coefficients.
- Calculate times of concentrations.
- Pre-development hydrologic analysis for simple sites.
- Understand BMPs for EPSC.
- Prepare storm drainage report.
- Prepare engineering calculations and engineering sketches.
- Prepare land development plans, site grading, utility and drainage design for planning, permitting and construction for food and beverage processing facilities.
- Review drawings and coordinate with the project team.
- Prepare bid packages and provide construction administration.
- Develop bidder list.
- Bid tabulation.
- Visit project sites to observe field conditions.
- Evaluate design constraints and resolve problems.
- Research civil engineering materials and best practices.
- Support talent growth within our organization.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- 0-3 years of experience or schooling in civil engineering tasks involving industrial construction projects (foundation and below aspects - design land development, building pads, and infrastructure for new builds, etc.).
- 0-3 years of experience or schooling in drainage, grading and utility design for industrial or commercial projects.
- 0-3 years of experience or schooling in AutoCAD, Civil 3D.
- Ability to travel to project sites as needed (approx. 25%).
- EIT Registration is desirable.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Up to 25% travel required to visit project site and other offices.
