Overview
Join Baystate Health as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) on our Wesson 4 unit in Springfield, MA. Working under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN), you’ll provide compassionate, hands-on care to patients while supporting the overall operations of the unit. This role offers the opportunity to build your skills in a dynamic hospital environment and make a real difference in patients’ lives.
Location: Springfield, MA
Hours: 36 hours/week |
Shift: Days (7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.)
Schedule: Every other weekend and holiday required
Certification: American Heart Association BLS (CPR) required
A resume is required to determine experience.What You’ll Do
Provide age-appropriate, compassionate bedside care — including hygiene, skin care, mobility, and monitoring
Obtain and record vital signs, weights, and other patient data accurately and on time
Assist nurses and physicians with treatments, procedures, and patient exams
Perform and document Point of Care (POC) testing, phlebotomy, and EKGs as needed
Support patient elimination needs and specimen collection per established procedures
Maintain equipment, ensure patient safety, and respond promptly to emergencies
Communicate clearly and respectfully with patients, families, and team members
Participate as a valued member of a collaborative care team
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Previous healthcare experience a plus
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (required)
Strong communication skills and the ability to remain composed in fast-paced situations
