Pulmonary Function Lab – Respiratory Therapist (R39514)

Location: Pulmonary Function Lab
Schedule: Full‑time, 40 hrs/week (First shift)
Compensation: $33.67 – $43.63 – $57.41 per hour (pay range based on experience)
Summary: Respiratory Therapists, under the general supervision of a physician, evaluate, diagnose, and treat respiratory disorders. They perform diagnostic cardiopulmonary assessments and administer therapy to patients with breathing deficiencies or dysfunctions. Responsibilities include acquiring, analyzing, and interpreting data from diagnostic tests and clinical specimens to guide patient care.
Responsibilities- Diagnostic Testing and Evaluation
- Pulmonary function testing
- Interventional diagnostics
- Noninvasive diagnostic procedures
- Blood gas analysis and other pertinent laboratory evaluations
- Therapeutic Interventions
- Medical gas therapy
- Aerosol therapy
- Patient Assessment
- Physical examinations and interpretation of diagnostic data to support clinical decision‑making
- Evaluate and modify patient therapies based on response and lab results
- Monitor and Document
- Monitor patients, check equipment, make necessary adjustments, document changes
- Recommend therapy updates to physicians and discontinue therapy as ordered
- Infection Control and Equipment Maintenance
- Disassemble equipment and follow infection‑control guidelines for cleaning
- Assist with care, maintenance, and documentation of equipment
- Report equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs
- Disease Management and Education
- Provide management and education for patients with acute and chronic respiratory diseases
- Emergency and Critical Care Support
- Deliver care across emergency, acute, critical, and post‑acute settings (patient and environmental assessments, therapeutic interventions)
- Precepting and Professional Development
- Serve as a preceptor for respiratory therapy students, fellows, and residents
- Demonstrate competence in advanced therapies (inhaled nitric oxide, inhaled heliox)
- Hold or actively work toward specialty credentials, certifications, or proficiencies
- Participate in specialty projects or hospital committees; meet Level III respiratory therapist clinical ladder requirements
- Minimum 3 years of clinical experience
- Experience in at least two critical care areas (e.g., PICU, NICU, ED, STAT, RT, Adult ICU)
- Preceptor experience preferred
- Prior diagnostic testing experience (pulmonary function testing, interventional diagnostics, or non‑invasive diagnostics)
- Associates of Science in Respiratory Therapy (required)
- Basic Life Support certification;
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with state or national board
