Housekeeper (per diem) – Glacier Hills Senior Living Community

Per diem housekeeping position. 30‑40 hours per month, day shift. Located in Springfield’s historic district. The grounds include gardens and a spacious activity area, large dining room, and serene chapel.

• Follow cleaning assignments, fill housekeeping carts with materials and supplies, mix cleaning solutions and transport same to work areas. Maintain all chemicals in their proper containers with appropriate labels.
• Clean assigned areas by washing furnishings, tile fixtures and equipment with germicidal cleaning solutions. Clean, sanitize and maintain all resident rooms, bathrooms and offices within specific schedules. Sanitize and polish sinks, tubes, toilets, brass, mirrors and the like.
• Remove soiled bed linens from resident rooms, make beds with fresh linens in prescribed manner if so assigned. Upon discharge of residents, strip, clean, sanitize and make beds, and clean other furniture as assigned.
• Sweep and mop all floor areas. Vacuum carpets using a light vacuum, spot‑clean carpets using appropriate solutions and arrange furniture and equipment in an orderly manner after cleaning assigned areas. Dispose of trash by emptying wastebaskets and bringing trash to the dumpster.
• Bring resident or facility laundry to laundry room and launder properly if assigned. Return clean laundry to resident’s room or to laundry storage areas.
• Visually inspect area upon completion of cleaning to ensure appropriate levels of cleanliness and neatness have been achieved. Customer satisfaction and focus on quality improvement are evident in all aspects of work.
• Clean and perform routine maintenance on sanitation equipment and notify supervisor of equipment needing further repair. Return unused supplies to utility room, clean cart and equipment.
• Follow all safety and infection control procedures according to Federal, State and Facility policies. Ensure that all tasks are performed to assure resident and personal safety and protection of co‑workers and property.
• Demonstrate, promote and integrate the mission of the Sisters of Providence Health System and its core values in daily work activities.
• Promote and participate in educational programs, both formally and informally, including at least one session each year of fire safety, infection control, disaster response, hazard communication, resident rights/abuse, blood‑borne pathogens, corporate compliance and annual PPD requirements.

• Ability to read and understand written instructions; some experience in a long‑term care setting preferred.
• Analytical ability to read and understand instructions.
• Ability to understand and respond to simple written or verbal instructions; occasional contact with residents and visitors, which involves ordinary courtesy.
