Department Description
  • Our clinical practitioners in gastroenterology are devoted to researching and treating diseases of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract.
  • We treat common conditions including abdominal pain, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), irritable bowel syndrome, bleeding, constipation, and diarrhea for adults and children.
  • Each of our providers also has a specialized focus in complex cases associated with the liver, pancreas and bile duct, inflammatory bowel disease, cancer, and motility.
  • Our physicians, nurses, medical assistants, physician assistants, and fellows have the common goal of providing safe, efficient, and quality care for our patients and their families.
Job Responsibilities
  • Clinical Practice and Quality Outcomes:
    The Assistant Nurse Manager administers direct nursing care to patients and serves as a clinical resource and role model of clinical excellence for staff. Delivers service promise as evidenced by metrics in all unit practices and programs. Provides leadership collaboratively with the Nurse Manager in proactively developing quality-driven and cost-effective initiatives.
  • Human Resource Leadership:
    In collaboration with the Nurse Manager leads a positive work environment that facilitates the delivery of excellent patient and caregiver experiences. Staff are highly engaged, as evidenced by relevant metrics. Initiates and manages necessary change, providing support and resources to staff.
  • Management of the Patient Care Environment:
    Visible leader in the patient care unit responsible for effective management of patient progress and outcomes of care. Leads collaborative efforts with other departments and disciplines.
  • Financial Growth and Stewardship:
    Accountable for managing within budget in collaboration with the Nurse Manager. Stewards financial resources and promotes growth by developing business plans and budgets for their unit.
  • Operational Planning:
    Sets a progressive pace for performance improvement based on an assessment of internal and external influences, creating and implementing plans that have a positive impact.
  • Staff education/training, the establishment of a learning environment, in partnership with a nurse Educator and Manager.
  • Facilitates staffing models necessary to support case volumes and acuity.
  • Evaluates clinical processes and workflows to ensure efficiency, and facilitates appropriate change.
  • Responsible for direct nurse supervision on weekends and off shifts in partnership with the clinical supervisor.
  • Evaluate clinical documentation to ensure completion and accuracy.

Qualifications
  • Successfully passed Board of Registration in Nursing Examination and is licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider CPR certification required.
  • Experience:

    Minimum of 3-5 years of nursing experience with the most appropriate patient population.
  • Education:

    Associate's Degree in Nursing (Required). BSN preferred.
