Description:

This position is for a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse. The role involves caring for patients from neonates to adults. The nurse will work in a 15-bed Labor and Delivery unit that follows inpatient rooming with infants. All infants will be in rooms with their mothers. The newborn nursery will be utilized when infants require additional care. Key skills required include the ability to perform procedures such as amnioinfusion, circumcision assistance, and vaginal delivery.

Knowledge of breastfeeding support and lactation education is essential. The position includes responsibilities such as discharge teaching for parents and monitoring for postpartum hemorrhage. Other required skills include the management of epidural anesthesia, use of fetal heart monitoring, and IV therapy initiation. Collaboration with interdisciplinary support teams is expected. The nurse will be expected to provide care during weekends on an every-other weekend basis.

Familiarity with charting systems is preferred but not mandatory. The typical patient ratio for nights will vary. Candidates should be adaptable and prepared to handle the demands of a fast-paced environment.
