Function:
The Cook will prepare and cook food, uphold health and safety standards, and track inventory.

Work Days:
Tuesday-Saturday.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Follow all menus, prepare food properly, and serve meals on time.
  • Maintain safe and sanitary conditions in the kitchen, dining room, and storage areas.
  • Ensure personnel understand the importance of personal hygiene.
  • Rotate food properly and use leftovers promptly.
  • Follow the breakfast menu and complete morning assignments.
  • Enforce kitchen dress code and conduct rules.
  • Prepare and cook food.
  • Maintain inventory of food and supplies.
  • Secure the kitchen, stock, and food serving areas; do not remove items without permission.
  • Check freezers and refrigerators daily for temperature and expiration dates; report upcoming expirations.
  • Attend staff meetings as required.
  • Assist in planning and determining food quantities needed.
  • Support the work therapy program by demonstrating professional conduct and work habits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • In the absence of a Kitchen Supervisor, evaluate beneficiaries and report to the Administrator(s) monthly.
  • Qualifications
  • High school diploma, equivalent, or relevant experience.
  • Serv Safe or equivalent kitchen safety certification.
  • Experience with food preparation for large groups.
  • Ability to follow directions and lead a team.
  • Physical Requirements
  • Sitting under 1/3 of the time, lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Push/pull using machinery under 1/3 of the time.
  • Standing and walking over 2/3 of the time.
  • Reaching over 2/3 of the time.
  • Climbing and stooping under 1/3 of the time.
