The Opportunity:

Altium International is seeking an experienced Senior Technical Sales Specialist to lead the commercial growth of an advanced microscopy portfolio in the U.S.

As part of a new strategic partnership, microscopy will be a major area of focus for Altium over the next several years. This individual will play a key role in establishing and expanding the product line across the U.S. market, combining technical microscopy expertise, direct sales, business development, and commercial strategy.

The successful candidate will have a strong technical background in microscopy –particularly super-resolution microscopy – combined with proven experience selling sophisticated scientific instrumentation and developing relationships with research institutions and core facilities.

This is a senior and highly visible position within the organization. The individual will serve as a key commercial representative for the microscopy portfolio in the U.S., helping shape the sales strategy, develop key accounts, build market presence, and drive adoption of high-end capital equipment valued up to $1.2M

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead U.S. business development and technical sales activities for Altium's advanced microscopy portfolio
  • Drive sales of high-value microscopy systems into academic institutions, research centers, core facilities, biotechnology companies, pharmaceutical organizations, and other scientific customers
  • Develop and execute a U.S. sales strategy with particular emphasis on expanding Altium's presence across the East Coast and Northeast
  • Leverage an established network within the microscopy community, particularly relationships with core facilities and key scientific decision-makers
  • Serve as a technical and commercial expert throughout the sales process, from initial customer engagement and technical discussions through demonstrations, proposals, negotiations, and closing
  • Identify and develop new accounts while building long-term relationships with existing and prospective customers
  • Partner closely with technical, applications, service, and international teams to support customers throughout the sales process
  • Represent Altium at scientific conferences, industry events, customer meetings, demonstrations, and other commercial activities
  • Provide market intelligence and customer feedback to help shape Altium's broader U.S. commercial strategy
  • Help establish sales processes and best practices as the U.S. microscopy business continues to grow
  • Support customers nationally while playing a key role in strengthening Altium's East Coast presence
  • Work toward an initial commercial target of six instrument placements within the first year
Ideal Background:
  • 5-10+ years of relevant experience within microscopy, scientific instrumentation, or a closely related field
  • Previous experience as a Technical Sales Specialist (TSS) or in a comparable technical sales role
  • Strong technical expertise in advanced microscopy
  • Super-resolution microscopy experience is a top priority
  • Proven sales track record and success selling complex, high-value scientific instrumentation or capital equipment
  • Strong combination of technical expertise and commercial ability, with the ability to discuss sophisticated microscopy applications while also owning the sales process
  • An established network within the U.S. microscopy market is highly desirable, particularly across the Northeast/East Coast and within core facilities
  • Northeast location is preferred; candidates based elsewhere may also be considered if they have previously managed and developed a strong Northeast territory
  • Experience developing territories, opening new accounts, and building markets for emerging technologies is highly desirable
