Overview

Purchasing Assistant role at Health Trust Performance Group. This position focuses on requisition processing, product sourcing, vendor negotiations, and purchase order management for the Mercy Consolidated Services Center (CSC) and related Mercy entities.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am - 4:30pm

We are seeking enthusiastic candidates to join Health Trust Performance Group as Purchasing Assistant. We will provide tools and resources to succeed in our organization.

Job Summary And Qualifications

The Purchasing Assistant has primary responsibility for requisition processing, daily product sourcing, vendor purchase order negotiations, purchase order placement, confirmation follow up, invoice resolution and expediting of purchase orders for products and services for the Mercy CSC and related Mercy entities. The role emphasizes a customer-focused purchasing process aligned with the mission, vision and values of Mercy.

  • Submits all electronically requisitioned catalog item orders daily according to the designated order schedule.
  • Sources and submits all non-catalog purchase orders with the appropriate vendor within 24-48 hours of receipt.
  • Confers with the customer department, vendor and/or the appropriate staff member on orders that require clarification prior to ordering.
  • Utilizes all available resources for product sourcing including the Lawson Item File, GHX, CMS, prime vendor sources, vendor catalogs, websites and publications.
  • Encourages customer departments to use available standard and contract items and vendors for non-standard/non-contract products.
  • Monitors the daily electronic transmission of EDI and Auto Fax and ensures computer software and hardware are functioning properly.
  • Issues verbal purchase order numbers as necessary for repairs or special department requests.
  • Recommends and facilitates the building of Standing and Blanket purchase orders for customer departments.
  • Manages capital purchase requests from Strata Jazz by issuing and managing purchase orders in Lawson.
Education / Experience
  • High School Diploma - Required
  • 1+ year(s) of experience in purchasing and/or health care materials - Required
