Position Summary
The Merchandise Operations Specialist I is the foundation of the Merchandise Operations department. They assist in ensuring systematic SKU information is accurate to better serve our outfitters and customers. They are responsible for managing the BPS Merchandise Management System (MMS) to help ensure Merchant(s)’ strategic direction is analyzed and executed when applicable. This position will build relationships by working with Merchant Teams to ensure SKUs are created, maintained, and assorted efficiently and accurately.
A Merchandise Operations Specialist is a team player with a personal drive, curiosity, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Specializes in BPS’s MMS systems and applications for defined Merchant team(s) using their systems knowledge to make decisions based on interpretation, discretion, and judgment.
- Works to build team collaboration cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Inventory/Replenishments, management, and Demand Planning teams to help systems align and keeps SKUs moving as planned through replenishment channels.
- Works with Visual Merchandising/ Space Planning teams to ensure Planogram integrity.
- Builds relationships with other merchandise operations specialists and additional outfitters to deliver results in a complex and fast-paced environment.
- Helps design, develop, train, and document modifications to BPS’s MMS, including writing SOPs.

- Minimum Degree
Required:
High School Diploma - College Degree Preferred:
Business, Data Management, or related fields - Experience:
2-4 years of relevant experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, both formal and informal.
- Relevant experience in an operation, analyst, or data specialist role preferred.
- Proficient skills and understanding of BPS MMS program or similar Merchandise Management Systems.
- Strong PC skills with an emphasis on Spreadsheets (Excel) and Database Management Systems (Access or other query tools) and the ability to analyze and sort large data sets.
- Ability to work independently and balance multiple priorities simultaneously to meet company deadlines.
