Traveling Superintendent 3 - Healthcare Construction at JE Dunn Construction
Role SummaryThe Superintendent 3 will plan, manage and execute all aspects of assigned projects with moderate complexity. The position involves managing the team, planning construction sequencing, and meeting project goals to achieve timely, profitable completion in support of JE Dunn’s strategy, vision and values.
Key Responsibilities – Core- Lead the company’s safety culture, demonstrating commitment to an injury‑free environment and mentoring others.
- Manage subcontractors, suppliers and internal programs such as Safety, Quality and EEO for a small or major portion of a larger project.
- Develop work plans for subcontractors and self‐performed work.
- Coordinate and manage project site custody and control.
- Lead daily stand‑up and weekly trade meetings; attend and manage progress and OAC meetings.
- Create, manage, and update the project schedule with the Project Manager.
- Track and monitor project budget and costs using the management system’s reports.
- Communicate key project information to owners, design team, authorities, subcontractors and other departments.
- Maintain project documentation: drawings, logs, diaries and inspection notebooks.
- Approve or record unit cost information for weekly reports and complete daily tracking reports.
- Evaluate self‑perform progress and adjust as needed.
- Manage material and equipment needs and procurement processes.
- Support MOC and DLSC procurement and approval processes.
- Assist in selecting formwork, tools and equipment for self‑perform operations.
- Approve timecards to ensure accurate hours and cost codes.
- Ensure quality compliance using specifications and QA/QC standards.
- Supervise pre‑punch activities and coordinate with owner, architect and authorities for project closeout.
- Participate in field operations leadership and project team to create and adjust the project pre‑plan.
- Partner with field leadership for staffing and with project management for schedule and cost impacts.
- Negotiate change agreements with owners and architects.
- Prepare and present for all project review meetings, including monthly reviews.
- Participate in buy‑out meetings with subcontractors and vendors.
- Understand and apply contract terms and conditions.
- Identify and recruit top talent.
- Lead, support and promote a culture of diversity and inclusion within JE Dunn.
- Manage moderately complex stand‑alone projects from start to finish.
- Manage projects with multiple field supervisors.
- Play a lead role in the project pursuit process.
- Collaborate with marketing on presentations and marketing activities.
- Develop new business opportunities and maintain long‑term client relationships.
- Assume responsibility for scheduling, production, safety and quality on the project or portion of the project.
- Identify, understand and actively manage project risks.
- Recommend solutions to the team based on experience and knowledge.
- Manage deliverables from internal resources such as IPS and logistics.
- Accurate, timely, and complete work performance.
- Intermediate verbal and written communication skills.
- Intermediate presentation skills.
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Office.
- Ability to apply construction management fundamentals.
- Knowledge of project processes that support success.

- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or related field (Preferred).
