Job Title: Special Education (Co-Taught) Adjunct Educator - Launch
Department: Virtual Learning
FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports to: Launch Administration
Pay: $826-$2,715 based on student enrollment per course
General PurposeThe Co-Taught Special Education Teacher supports the academic and personal success of virtual students with mild to moderate disabilities by collaborating with general education teachers to deliver curriculum, implement accommodations and modifications, and provide targeted instruction in an online setting. This role includes monitoring student progress, communicating with families, and offering weekly synchronous check-ins and individualized support to ensure students meet IEP goals and access the general education curriculum.
EssentialJob Functions
- Administers subject specific assignments for the purpose of assessing student competency levels.
- Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations; student's achievements; and developing methods for improvement.
- Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration.
- Analyzes performance data for the purpose of enhancing student achievement.
- Collaborates with Launch Online Staff, curriculum facilitators, other school personnel, and parents for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes and achieving established major instructional goals.
- Demonstrates methods required to perform classroom and/or subject specific assignments for the purpose of providing an effective education that addresses individual student learning.
- Differentiates classroom work for the purpose of providing students with instructional materials that address individualized learning plans within established lesson plans.
- Facilitates student learning (e.g. creating a learning environment, integrating technology, encouraging learning environment, facilitates collaboration) in pre-designed courses for the purpose of achieving success in academic, interpersonal and daily living skills through pre-determined learning outcomes.
- Maintains a variety of confidential and non-confidential files and records (e.g. grades, test scores, student evaluations, IEPS, anecdotal records, lesson plans, etc.) for the purpose of providing up-to-date information, historical references and documenting student progress in accordance with established guidelines and legal requirements.
- Manages student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
- Participates in a variety of training and meetings for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
- Prepares a variety of written materials to document student progress and fulfill mandated requirements.
- Reports health and safety issues to administrative personnel and/or appropriate agencies for the purpose of maintaining students’ personal safety, a positive learning environment and complying with regulatory requirements and established guidelines and legal requirements.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
- Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources (e.g. other teachers, parents, administrators) for the purpose of resolving issues, providing information and/or direction.
- Supports classroom teachers for the purpose of assisting them in the implementation of established curriculum and/or individual student plans.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in job-related area, required
Certificates, Licenses and Other Special Requirements:
- K-12 special education certification in Missouri in one or a combination of the following areas:
Mild-moderate disabilities (includes LD, BD/ED, MR, OHI), cross-categorical, hearing impaired, visually impaired or severe developmental disabilities, required - Ability to gain and maintain “Highly Qualified” status as defined by Missouri’s Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, required
