Process Designer

Position Summary

The Process Designer is responsible for designing hygienic process systems for the food, dairy and beverage, personal care, pharmaceutical, biotechnological and nutraceutical industries. The role includes overseeing process skids and piping projects from start to finish, meeting with customers, developing scope, designing and assisting bidding of potential projects, and managing multiple projects simultaneously both in-house and externally.

• Make sound engineering decisions aligned with corporate goals.
• Design FDA‑compliant fluid processing systems, including pasteurization, sanitization, clean‑in‑place, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and sanitary equipment.
• Support Sales by meeting with customers to discuss potential projects.
• Understand the function of all sanitary equipment on the market.
• Conduct and uphold the department's engineering drawing control procedures.
• Assist in control system design and creation.
• Maintain customer and prospect accounts in the CRM.
• Follow up with customers after field projects to gather feedback.
• Update customers on current projects.
• Provide design assistance for installation services.
• Visit customer sites for design or scope assistance.
• Visit current installation sites to support field staff.
• Develop AutoCAD drawings (P&, layout drawings, 3‑D designs).
• Define scope and bill of materials and specify equipment.
• 3‑D scan existing customer facilities.
• Create ETO equipment models using Autodesk Inventor.
• Assist project management during the quotation phase.
• Provide on‑site and remote design assistance during installation.
• Support procurement in evaluating equipment and performing cost‑benefit analysis.

• Associate Degree (required)
• Technical emphasis (required)
• Bachelor's Degree (preferred)

• 5 years managing or designing hygienic process system projects.
• Project management experience.
• Experience with piping design, pipe fitting or welding.
• Experience in industrial food processing and biopharmaceutical environments.
• System design, equipment, and instrumentation selection.

• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
• CAD proficiency (AutoCAD, Autodesk Plant 3D, Inventor, P&).

The position requires a stationary workday for 80 % of the time, close visual acuity, operating computers and office equipment continuously, and occasional lifting, stooping, bending and lifting of up to 20 pounds.

We may be exposed to temperature extremes, dust, and noise. The role may involve heavy lifting during truck loading/unloading or equipment placement. Respirators, safety harnesses, and other protective devices may be required. More than 40 hours per week, overnight travel, Saturday, Sunday and holiday hours may be required.
