Designer 2 – Skidded Equipment Assembly Design
This role takes ownership of the detailed drafting and design of skidded equipment assemblies, including frames, piping, instrumentation, and system integration. It requires advanced technical knowledge of fabrication methods, safety standards, and complex assembly coordination to produce comprehensive and manufacturable designs.
Strong organizational and project management skills are essential to independently oversee multiple skid projects of moderate to high complexity, ensuring consistency, quality, and compliance throughout the design process. The Designer 2 develops a solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation interfaces to optimize skid functionality and ease of fabrication.
Collaboration with senior design and engineering staff is critical on large-scale or highly complex projects. The role also supports and mentors junior designers, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing within the team. Clear communication with project management, fabrication teams, and clients ensures design clarity and alignment across all project phases.

Salary: $28 – $40 per hour, depending on experience.
Primary Functions- Lead the creation and revision of detailed 3D models and 2D fabrication drawings for skidded equipment assemblies, including frames, piping, instrumentation, and integrated systems.
- Ensure designs comply with fabrication standards, safety codes, regulatory requirements, and company guidelines.
- Apply advanced technical knowledge to coordinate mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation interfaces within skid assemblies.
- Optimize designs for manufacturability, functionality, safety, and cost‑effectiveness.
- Maintain organized documentation, drawing packages, and revision control.
- Independently manage multiple skid design projects of moderate to high complexity from concept to release.
- Plan and prioritize tasks to meet project milestones and deadlines.
- Identify and elevate potential design or fabrication risks early to project managers.
- Collaborate with engineering and fabrication teams to resolve design challenges and ensure manufacturability.
- Support the development of skid‑specific design standards, workflows, and best practices.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, manufacturing, and clients to confirm requirements and resolve challenges.
- Present design progress and technical details confidently to internal and external stakeholders.
- Support senior designers in client‑facing discussions by preparing drawings, models, or supporting documentation.
- Facilitate smooth handoff of design packages to fabrication, ensuring complete, accurate, and manufacturable deliverables.
- Provide design support to other product teams during peak workloads or when specialized skid expertise is needed.
- Engage in cross‑training to develop a working understanding of other product lines, including panels and process piping.
- Collaborate with and follow the direction of senior designers or team leads in other groups to align with shared standards and requirements.
- Contribute effectively to cross‑team projects by applying skid design expertise while expanding knowledge of other product areas.
- Build strong inter‑team relationships to promote consistency, best‑practice sharing, and overall design excellence.
- Demonstrate strong understanding of fabrication methods, safety standards, and skid system integration.
- Apply relevant codes, standards, and best practices to ensure designs meet compliance requirements.
