Professional Engineer - Public Works - Traffic​/Transportation

Overview

The City of Springfield's Department of Public Works is seeking qualified applicants for two Professional Engineer positions (with option to underfill as Engineer III) in the Traffic Engineering Division and the Transportation Management Division.

Responsibilities for the Traffic Engineering position include:

• Developing and analyzing planning studies such as traffic impact studies, traffic volume and speed studies, safety studies and crash data analysis, and parking studies.
• Designing and managing projects for traffic calming, sidewalks, and intersection improvements.
• Reviewing development plans for code compliance and access management.

Responsibilities for the Transportation Management position include:

• Designing and managing signalized intersection improvement projects.
• Developing and deploying intelligent transportation systems using a systems engineering approach.
• Creating and reviewing traffic control plans for construction projects and special events.

Professional Engineer

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in an Engineering discipline.
• Four years of experience in engineering work, with experience commensurate with the assigned specialty area required for the current vacancy.

Engineer III (Underfill option)

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in an Engineering discipline.
• Three years progressively responsible engineering experience.
• Must possess an Engineering Intern (EI) certificate from a State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers within the probationary period.
• Master's Degree in Engineering may be substituted for the EI certification.

• Must possess a Professional Engineer's license.
• Must possess Missouri license as issued by the Missouri State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers within six months of employment.

• Professional Engineer: $68,203.20 - $ annually.
• Engineer III: $63,523.20 - $ annually.
