Position Overview

Hutchens Industries is seeking a Mechanical Drafter / Designer to join our engineering team. This position will use 3D CAD software to update existing engineering drawings, create new designs, and provide technical support for our manufacturing and customer service teams.

The ideal candidate has some experience or training with CAD software, strong attention to detail, and a mechanical aptitude. A college degree is not required for this position.

This is an excellent opportunity to grow your technical and design skills while working directly with an experienced engineering and manufacturing team. Over time, the position will develop into product design and development work, with opportunities for advancement within the engineering department and company.

Responsibilities

• Use 3D CAD software to create, modify, and maintain engineering drawings and models.
• Update existing drawings to support manufacturing and product improvements.
• Create new drawings and designs for manufacturing applications.
• Assist with the design and development of new products based on customer requirements.
• Work closely with the manufacturing team to improve existing products, processes, and designs.
• Provide technical support and product information to the customer service team.
• Collaborate with engineers, manufacturing personnel, and other departments on design projects.
• Review designs and drawings for accuracy, functionality, and manufacturability.
• Develop a strong understanding of Hutchens Industries' products and manufacturing processes.
• Progressively take on greater responsibility in product design and engineering projects.

Qualifications

• Some training, education, or experience with CAD software required.
• Mechanical aptitude and an interest in mechanical design and manufacturing.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative engineering team.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Willingness to learn new software, processes, and engineering concepts.
• Prior manufacturing or hands-on mechanical experience is a plus.
• College degree is not required.
