Under the direction of the Medical Director and according to the protocols, procedures and policies of Mercy EMS, performs direct patient care including assessment, evaluation, basic and advanced medical rescue to access, stabilize, evacuate and transport a patient to an appropriate destination. Paramedics also perform clerical and maintenance duties.

Part Time Paramedic @ Mercy Springfield

Licensure: Paramedic (EMT‑P) license for the state of practice, valid driving license.

Experience: Applicants must be at least 19 years of age.

Certifications/Registration: Hazmat awareness level training, ACLS at hire, PALS within 6 months of hire/transfer.

Other Requirements: Unimpaired mobility, ability to respond quickly, access patients in difficult terrain, climb stairs, work in close and dangerous environments, partner to carry equipment and patients, perform strenuous physical requirements such as CPR, lifting, moving equipment, correctable vision acceptable for day/night operation, color acuity, read medication dosages, hear and understand patients, family, and radio traffic, verbally communicate with patients and staff, successfully satisfy physical demands with pre‑hire and annual fitness test.

Equipment Used: Mobile and portable communications equipment, monitor/defibrillator/pacer, approved stretcher, stair chair, backboard, scoop type device, various bags and kits, assigned ambulance, computer, fax, printer and other office equipment.

Preferred Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred Licensure: ITLS or equivalent training.

Preferred Experience: Background in Emergency Services.

Preferred Other: Training in Tactical EMS (TEMS) before participation in areas where TEMS services are provided.

• Ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.
• Prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
