Job Overview
The pharmacist will work collaboratively with pharmacy, nursing, administration, and medical staff to optimize medication use, support departmental goals, and provide clinical pharmacy practice services including primary healthcare, consultative services, and drug information to patients and providers.
Duties
- Actively participate in the accomplishment and assure implementation of the pharmacy service’s scope of practice.
- Develop and implement initiatives to ensure safe and cost‑effective management of pharmaceuticals in collaboration with the health care team.
- Provide counseling to patients regarding their prescriptions.
- Oversee and monitor medication use processes, including dispensing, administering, monitoring, and communicating medication needs.
- Guide, assess, and review the work of assigned clinical staff pharmacists and other personnel for productivity, efficiency, and quality.
- Promote effective working relations and work collaboratively as part of a department/unit team inter‑internally and interdepartmentally to achieve goals.
- Supervise non‑licensed personnel and oversee daily functions of pharmacy technicians.
- Interpret, evaluate, and verify all physician medication orders to assure accuracy and determine necessary formulas and ingredients, assisting physicians with appropriate drug and monitoring plans.
- Promote effective working relations and teamwork to facilitate clinic goals, achieving targets within specified time frames.
- Demonstrate respect and dignity for all patients, families, visitors, and employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or Doctoral Degree in Pharmacy.
- One year as a licensed pharmacist with enhanced clinical responsibilities is preferred.
- Current Missouri State license to practice professional pharmacy.
- Immunization Certification, Ambulatory Care Board Certification, and Medication Therapy Management certification are preferred.
