POSITION SUMMARY
The Sr. Manager of Payroll provides expert leadership and oversight of payroll administration and processing for Bass Pro Shops and its subsidiaries. This role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant payroll operations for all associates across multiple business units and geographies. The Sr. Manager serves as a strategic advisor on payroll-related matters, including tax compliance, reporting, and system integrity, while driving continuous improvement in payroll policies, procedures, and technology.
ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS
- Lead and manage payroll operations for designated business units, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all payroll cycles.
- Maintain payroll and personnel files for Company executives and salaried associates.
- Research and resolve payroll-related inquiries and discrepancies, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Serve as liaison with payroll service providers regarding setup, processing, and tax services.
- Establish and execute regular audits of payroll data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and system integrity.
- Review and approve wage and tax reports for accuracy and timely tax filings.
- Collaborate with Accounting on general ledger requirements and related issues.
- Update, maintain, and document payroll administration policies and procedures for all Company payrolls.
- Provide leadership and guidance to payroll team members, fostering a culture of accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
Experience:
- 10+ years of progressive payroll experience, including leadership roles.
- Proven experience managing payroll for a large, complex, global organization.
- Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, compliance, and tax requirements.
- Experience with Workday or similar enterprise payroll systems preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing payroll teams.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across departments and with external partners.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Regularly performs computer work and sits.
- Occasionally walks and stands.
- Seldom/never lifts up to 50lbs.
- Develops objectives and general policies and procedures for a specific program or functional area of responsibility within general scope of established operational goals and plans. Day-to-day work and decisions do not require direction or review by immediate supervisor. End results are reviewed by supervisor.
