DescriptionOur Horticulture team is looking for Gardeners! The City of Springfield is committed to working with the community to provide ethical and responsible services so that everyone can enjoy the benefits of living and working in Springfield. Public Grounds is responsible for the design, planning, planting, and management of vegetation along city right-of-ways, facility grounds and beautification projects within Springfield. Our primary goal is to effectively manage these areas of responsibility to provide a safe environment and a higher quality of life for our residents and visitors.
This position's hours are Monday through Friday.

Qualifications and Requirements- Experience, Education, and Training
- Three years of work experience in arboriculture, horticulture, forestry, or a related field;
- Completion of 23 hours of horticulture, forestry or related coursework from an accredited college or university may be substituted for two years experience.
- Preferred
- Irrigation experience is preferred.
- Licensing/Certification
- Must obtain and maintain a valid Class "A" or "B" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tanker and air brake endorsements, depending on assignment, within the following guidelines:
- Pass written portion of exam within 90 days of employment and skills test portion within the probationary period.
- Must possess or obtain a State of Missouri Certified Public Operator License in Ornamental and Turf category and a valid International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist certificate within the probationary period depending on assignment.
