Position Summary
The Manager of Quality will develop, implement, maintain, and lead the Quality Management System for multiple manufacturing plants and/or distribution facilities. The manager will function as a part of the plant senior leadership team, setting short‑ and long‑term strategy related to the Quality Management System. The manager will be responsible for continuous improvement initiatives across all functional areas and will manage a staff of quality supervisors and inspectors.
CoreFunctions
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with operations management, engineering, sales, and dealer‑based customers to understand business, quality, and customer needs.
- Manage and mentor the staff of Quality Supervisors and Inspectors, providing performance feedback and workload guidance.
- Communicate and collaborate with Operations management to implement quality objectives, maximizing product quality and minimizing cost.
- Maintain ISO and/or IATF certification for all manufacturing facilities and implement additional quality‑related business certifications.
- Identify recurring quality defects, conduct root‑cause analysis, and implement corrective action for process and quality system concerns.
- Establish and drive quality objectives and strategic initiatives related to the quality system.
- Lead continuous improvement activities, conduct audits, close audit findings, and determine correct corrective and preventative actions.
- Resolve all customer quality complaints, assign corrective actions, and provide feedback to customers on resolution.
- Ensure timely resolution of supplier failure, corrective actions, and preventative actions.
- Manage and implement automotive Quality Core Tools including APQP, Control Plans, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and MSA as needed.
- Manage key metrics and report to the leadership team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Quality Engineering, Engineering, or a related field is preferred; 10+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing field is required in lieu of a degree.
- 7+ years of quality systems experience, including 1–3+ years of leadership experience, preferably in a manufacturing and assembly environment.
- Previous ISO 9000:2015 / IATF 16949 experience is required.
- CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) or other ASQ certification preferred.
- SPC and/or Lean Six Sigma certification desired.
- Proficiency in quality database systems and Microsoft Office suite.
- Effective communication with production team members and top management.
- Identification of issues and inefficiencies with implementation of changes.
- Proficiency in computing rates, ratios, percentages, and interpreting graphs.
- Flexible to support a 2‑shift operation, including occasional Saturdays.
- Occasional travel for training and corporate events.
