Location:
2835 N Oak Grove, Springfield, MO 65803 USA. This is a full-time opportunity for an Operations Manager, Microbiology.
Base pay range: $80,000.00/yr - $/yr
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain systems that ensure proper methodologies are being utilized in conformance to client requirements.
- Administer corporate human resource programs relating to employee recruitment and retention, compensation, training and development, equal employment opportunity, performance appraisal, and employment record documentation.
- Analyze and interpret data and provide guidance in correcting discrepancies before results are released or issued to client service personnel and/or client as needed; ensure data is established in compliance with proper methods.
- Ensure corrective actions are appropriate for eliminating errors and that documentation is completed with follow-up as indicated in Standard Operating Procedures.
- Support company initiatives related to laboratory systems; work with other department leaders to implement methods and train others effectively.
- Communicate emerging client requirements to departmental personnel as needed.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors to provide information that ensures quality systems are utilized in testing procedures.
- Develop and maintain expertise in food science and related technologies through available resources and peer expertise.
- Maintain knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and other systems required to complete responsibilities.
- Support corporate quality and continuous improvement processes.
- Initiate actions to prevent or minimize departures from the quality system or test procedures, including addressing resource needs to meet client turnaround times, overtime limits, employee turnover, and material readiness.
- Perform other related duties as needed.
Profile
2-5 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience; or a Masters degree. Thorough knowledge of microbiology, chemistry, food science or related fields is necessary to supervise departmental personnel and interpret results. General knowledge of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) is needed to review results and correct discrepancies. Strong client relation skills are necessary to answer client questions and advise on processes.
Proficiency in standard operating methods gained as a microbiologist, chemist, or food scientist, and supervisory experience, is needed. Budgeting, organizational and planning skills are essential to maintain smooth operations and assign tasks.
Required Skills
The incumbent ensures analyses are performed within specified time limits and results are accurate. Uses technical expertise to determine solutions to laboratory problems. Refers to journals and professional contacts for methodologies of requested tests. Timely resolutions of analysis problems are important for client relations. Follows company procedures and policies, standard practice manuals, and applicable regulations. The incumbent determines laboratory personnel schedules and prioritizes analyses;
plans actions to improve efficiency and quality. Decisions are made with guidance from management, and impacts include laboratory personnel, clients, and costs.
Long-term objectives are established with supervisor alignment; status reports are provided as requested. The incumbent leads quality control and analysis of client samples and is accountable for data interpretation and its impact on the department and company.

Management
Supervises departmental personnel, including hiring, developing, providing feedback and evaluating performance. Coordinates laboratory activities with other departments and internal clients.
Work Environment
Laboratory setting with standard safety practices; occasional use of protective equipment. Standing for extended periods; ability to detect color variations; overnight travel less than two nights per month for meetings and seminars.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation Range: $80,000 - $100,000 USD annually. Potential bonus:
Up to 10% based on performance. Relocation Assistance Provided.
