The Area Supervisor is a member of Store Leadership who is responsible for a specific, assigned area of the store as well as the general operations and supervision of the store when functioning as the Manager on Duty. Responsibilities include opening and closing the store, supervising associates, maintaining merchandise presentation, cleaning, executing company operational processes, ensuring safety, customer service, merchandising, and loss prevention.
EssentialFunctions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
- Practice safe behaviors and maintain a safe environment.
- Monitor the sales floor for safety and report issues.
- Secure building entrance/exit, electronic detection devices, cash office, and register area.
- Maintain exit egress and test fire alarm systems.
- Respond to after‑hours alarms.
- Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
- Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism.
- Represent the company brand and maintain a professional appearance.
- Keep all store areas clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard.
- Remove daily trash.
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet company standards.
- Process incoming deliveries and keep stockrooms organized.
- Help deliver and place merchandise on the sales floor.
- Secure and process back‑stock.
- Comply with monthly presentation guidelines.
- Maintain a large customer service presence on the sales floor.
- Protect confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
- Maintain the Public View Monitor system.
- Conduct package inspections.
- Train and coach associates on cash registers and shortage control.
- Control retail associates’ break schedule.
- Ensure all equipment works and supplies are stocked.
- Expedite go‑backs and scan, tag, and ticket as needed.
- Teach the “Scan and Bag” best practice.
- Maintain cleanliness and audit fitting room tags.
- Ensure go‑back compliance.
- Check cash pulls and bank deposits.
- Administer payroll, scheduling, and other administrative functions as assigned.
- Handle other duties assigned by the Store Manager.

- Fluency in English
- Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred
- Familiarity with point‑of‑sale equipment
- Basic math calculations usable in retail settings
- Ability to work evenings and weekends
- Operate point‑of‑sale devices and registers
- Stand, walk, and move around the store 100% of the time
- Bend, squat, kneel, climb, and reach regularly
- Occasionally lift more than 25 lbs.
- Use janitorial equipment and other assigned supplies
