Position: Enviromental Specialist - SWR0040

As an Environmental Program Assistant/Analyst in the Drinking Water Section, you will be working to protect public health and ensure safe drinking water through the Missouri Safe Drinking Water Law and implementing regulations.

Location:

Southwest Regional Office, 2040 W. Woodland St., Springfield, MO 65807.

Salary:
Base salary. Applicants eligible for years‑of‑service adjustments or shift differentials may exceed the salary range listed above.

Responsibilities
  • Schedule and conduct field assessments and sampling of public water systems to determine the potential cause of bacteriological positive samples.
  • Inspect public water systems to ensure compliance with the Missouri Safe Drinking Water Law and Regulations.
  • Investigate concerns of potential and existing environmental health and safety problems and issues concerning the quality of drinking water.
  • Provide technical and compliance assistance to regulated entities, and general assistance to the public.
  • Perform other related work as assigned.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure goals are met.
Qualifications
  • Written and Oral Communication:

  • Customer Service:
    Anticipates and meets the needs of both internal and external customers, delivers high‑quality products and services, and is committed to continuous improvement.

  • Reasoning:
    Identifies rules, principles, or relationships that explain facts, data, or other information; analyzes information and makes correct inferences or draws accurate conclusions.
  • A valid Missouri State Driver’s License.
Education & Experience
  • A bachelor’s degree and 0–4 or more years of relevant experience. Preference for a science major or a non‑science major with 30 hours of science coursework. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
