Overview
Pavements and Construction Equipment personnel construct runways and airfields in remote global locations in addition to maintaining facilities already in use. They are the heavy construction equipment operators in the Air Force Reserve and their training and on-the-job experience translates into excellent civilian opportunities. These personnel are also trained and experienced in the use of explosives.
Primary Responsibilities- Construct and maintain concrete and asphalt runways, parking aprons and roads
- Operate and maintain heavy construction equipment including loaders, graders, bulldozers, backhoes and dump trucks plus tractor-trailer combinations
- Determine materials and equipment requirements and prepare construction cost estimates
- Design demolition projects; place and detonate explosives
- Up to 30 days of vacation with pay each year

- HS Diploma or GED. Completion of courses in general science, shop mechanics and use of drawings is desirable.
- Possess a valid state driver’s license to operate a government vehicle
- ASVAB score of 40 on Mechanical
- Completion of 8.5 weeks of Basic Military Training
- Must be between the ages of 17 and 39
