Position: Room Ready Technician

Summary

The Room Ready Technician installs, maintains, and upgrades Telcom cabinets and Telcom shelters and performs room-ready work. Room Ready Installers should be versatile and able to assist in civil construction as needed. This is a safety-sensitive position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety First – Put safety first and production second. Always.
  • Install DC and AC power circuits, fiber jumpers, and ethernet cables.
  • Label and/or color code equipment, power circuits, and fibers per carrier requirements.
  • Maintain the project timeline as stated by the Construction Manager.
  • Complete daily site field reports and Job Safety Analysis.
  • Collect on-site closeout documentation and submit to the closeout manager per timelines.
  • Participate in continuous training offered by CMS Wireless, including weekly safety calls.
  • Ensure site quality, timeliness, accuracy, and schedule; perform grounding, terminations, fastening, bolting, antioxidant use, lead support, and cad welding as required.
  • Assist on the overall job, including groundwork and all tasks required to build and install a site per customer specs; maintain a safe work environment; complete JSA forms; assist with crew work and equipment maintenance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands
  • Work in a field environment; must be in good physical condition and able to bend, squat, climb, kneel, push, pull, lift 50 lbs or more, and work in various positions for extended periods.
  • Willingness to travel out of market/state for up to two weeks at a time.
  • May work long and unpredictable hours.
  • Must pass pre-employment screenings (DOT physical, background check, drug/alcohol testing) and participate in random testing.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions (extreme heat/cold, rain, ice, snow, wind).
  • Valid driver’s license; CDL is a plus.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Technical

    Skills:

    able to work in a team, read drawings/diagrams/specs, proficient in Microsoft Excel, and basic computer skills; able to use an electrical multimeter for AC/DC testing; understand proper use of common power/hand tools.
Soft Skills
  • Effective communication in person, by phone, and by email with team members and clients.
  • Ability to read, understand, and carry out instructions; able to work in a team or independently as required.
Supervisory Requirements
  • None.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
  • Full-time.
  • Typically Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with some overtime.
Travel
  • Regional travel is required; usually 80–100% of the time.
Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or GED.
Desired
  • Related trade school education.
  • 1–2 years of experience on a civil construction or electrical crew.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead construction crews to complete projects.
