Mammography Technologist - Springfield Imaging and Lab
Bon Secours Mercy Health is seeking a Mammography Technologist to produce high quality breast imaging procedures following ARRT, ACR, and MQSA guidelines. All screening, diagnostic, invasive, and DEXA scans are performed according to established protocols for interpretation by supervising physician.
Responsibilities- Performs all breast imaging and DEXA procedures.
- Assists the radiologist in invasive breast procedures, ensuring aseptic technique and informed consent is obtained by performing physician-assisted procedures.
- Correlates patient clinical history with the procedure and ensures information is documented and available for use by a licensed provider; conveys patient history to the licensed provider prior to examination.
- Operates breast imaging equipment and related devices to achieve desired results.
- Selects appropriate radiographic technique exposure factors to produce quality diagnostic images.
- Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others.
- Applies patient safety principles during all mammographic procedures.
- Provides patient education and discharge instructions.
- Participates in the department's quality assessments and improvement plans.
- Certification and Registration in Mammography, ARRT (preferred upon hire or must obtain within six months of hire).
- State Licensure (preferred, unless required by the state).
- BLS Basic Life Support – American Heart Association (preferred upon hire, required to obtain prior to direct patient care).
- Associate's degree from an ARRT-accredited institute (preferred).
- 1 year experience as a registered mammography technologist (preferred).
- EPIC EHR (preferred).
- Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) (preferred).

- Physical requirements:
manual dexterity, shift work, maneuver weight of patients, hear alarms/telephone, reach above shoulder, repetitive arm/hand movements, finger dexterity, color vision, depth perception - Hazards: latex products, exposure to chemicals, moving mechanical parts, dust/fumes, electrical shock, x-ray/electromagnetic energy, high pitched noises
