The Medical Assistant position performs routine clinical skills for patient care, including taking vital signs, weight, height, and assisting with procedures. The role documents in EPIC, ensures completion in time for the provider to dictate a note, and closes encounters expediently. Responsibilities include patient flow, chaperoning, stocking rooms, ordering tests and supplies, and performing services delegated by the RN, nurse practitioner, or physician.
The assistant interacts with department personnel to maintain timely patient flow and provide quality customer service.
- HSD/GED is required
- Completion of a program in Medical Assisting is required
- CPR is preferred at hire, but must be obtained within 2 weeks of start date
