Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
General Description / Primary Purpose
The Maintenance Certified Master Technician performs tasks to maintain, install and troubleshoot food processing equipment, motors, starters, and building infrastructure (overhead doors/docks, HVAC, pallet wrappers). This position supports the production process by reducing equipment downtime through accurate and effective troubleshooting and making equipment repairs in a timely manner.
ResponsibilitiesEnsure the integrity and continued operation of the food safety system in the event of organizational or personnel changes within the company or associated facilities.
Maintain, troubleshoot, and operate chlorine and ammonia systems.
Tig weld stainless steel in a sanitary environment.
Adhere to all policies, practices, and SOP’s related to producing Safe Quality Food (SQF) and GMP’s.
Repair/finish drywall and paint.
Install 460V motors, starters, and disconnects.
Install and troubleshoot control circuits, panels, and program PLC’s.
Perform preventive maintenance on docks and doors.
Understand 1000
CFM air compressor systems, including air dryers.Other duties as assigned.
Minimum of 8–10 years of maintenance experience.
Must have HVAC experience to diagnose and/or repair equipment as needed.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as operation instructions, installation manuals and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
Excellent electrical skills including VFD’s, control circuits, and ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
Ability to make decisions, maintain regular attendance, follow directions, interact well with co-workers, follow posted work rules/procedures, and accept constructive criticism.
This position is considered “Safety Sensitive,” requiring the passing of an independently administered drug screen.
Mobility to work in a typical shop, mechanical room, or related maintenance setting, including operating typical trade equipment, hand and power tools and standard office equipment, and to drive a motor vehicle.
Must be able to stand, walk, climb and work in confined or awkward spaces for extended periods of time.
Ability to maneuver around equipment, work in a cold environment, bend, stoop, climb stairs, and lift up to 50 pounds; cold environment (approx. 35°F on plant floor).
Must be able to respond to emergencies after hours.
Must be able to drive short distances to pick up supplies.
Must be able to work flexible hours.
Trade school certificate, associate’s/bachelor’s degree preferred.
High school diploma or GED required.
- $32.00 – $37.00 Hourly
