Overview
Peace Health is seeking a Meal and Break RN in the NICU. 0.8 FTE, Night Shift position with 8 hour shifts. Salary range: $49.30 - $77.46. Sign on bonus and relocation funds available for eligible candidates.
This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement.
Job SummaryProvides professional nursing direct patient care in compliance with professional practice and unit standards. Promotes a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach towards patients, families and all members of the care delivery team.
Essential Functions- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs.
- Document patient care in the healthcare record according to established standards.
- Direct and delegate care to other team members in accordance with their education, credentials, and demonstrated competence.
- Ensure own professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
- Participate in the development of and maintain established hospital policies, procedures and objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection prevention program.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
- Degree from an accredited School of Nursing Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing Preferred
Experience
- Two years RN experience required in critical care with at least one year of NICU experience within last 5 years.
- For RN Residents:
Completion of a NICU training program at Peace Health may substitute for this experience. - Prior experience with neonatal ventilation, CPAP, and in-line pressure monitoring.
- Bilingual Spanish is preferred.

Basic Life Support - Preferred: NRP

- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs. (Required)

- Demonstrated ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships and patient/family centered work environment. (Required)
- Able to support and interpret medical center philosophy, policy and procedures. (Required)
- Basic computer skills. (Required)
- Patient handling: non-patient lifting up to 35 lbs without assistive equipment; frequent lifting up to 45 lbs for equipment and carts.
- Fine motor skills to grasp and control medical equipment; perform precise procedures.
- CPR performance requirements as specified by guidelines.
- Frequent movement around the area; frequent bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, kneeling.
- Non-patient lifting up to 20 lbs occasionally and 5 lbs frequently.
- Environment: exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles; able to work in a noisy environment.
