Essential Functions

Store Managers are responsible for hiring, developing and leading all store associates while ensuring optimal customer experiences, effectively overseeing all store operations, and maintaining brand standards. They develop strategies and plans to achieve key performance indicators and financial targets through business analysis, action planning, effective communication and consistent accountability. As an Assistant Manager, you support the Store Manager in all areas outlined below and are responsible for all primary duties when the Store Manager is not present.

Primary

Duties

Brand (30%) – Supervise and support associate daily goals and activities to deliver an exceptional client experience maximizing sales/KPIs and driving customer loyalty. Emphasis on both in‑store selling and omni‑channel. Ensure all brand standards are met (merchandising, POGs, marketing, back rooms, dress code). Act as main contact for customer issue resolution and trend analysis.

People (30%) – Engage, train, and develop teams to achieve positive results. Recruit via internal platforms, build strong external talent networks, coach associates, hold team accountable to company policies, resolve associate concerns, maintain relationships with Store Manager peers, communicate consistently with AM/DM, and foster diversity, inclusion, and belonging.

Operations (30%) – Execute company processes through training, management, analysis, continuous improvement. Utilize omni‑channel processes such as SFS/SDD/BOPIS. Manage inventory, ordering, shipment processing, payroll hours, scheduling, store opening/closing procedures, and follow-through with company directives.

Safety/Loss Prevention (10%) – Ensure store environment safety, enforce security and cash control procedures, analyze reporting tools, maintain HAZMAT compliance.

Knowledge, Skills/Abilities and Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Minimum 3+ years retail sales/customer service experience preferred
  • At least 1+ year prior management experience preferred
  • Ability to lead or support a team of associates to meet business objectives
  • Effective communication with team and management
  • Scheduling availability to meet business needs
  • Cosmetology license desirable but not required.

Physical Requirements

The role requires physical exertion: standing, walking, bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, lifting moderately heavy items. Work may involve other store locations, safety precautions, typical office equipment usage, and conditions of retail stores.
