The Registered Nurse performs direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act. They utilize therapeutic communication, maintain a safe therapeutic environment, identify nursing problems, plan individualized patient care with an interdisciplinary approach, participate in performance improvement activities, and coordinate care to fulfill the hospital’s mission and vision.

• Assess plans and evaluate patient care needs; carry out physician orders.
• Administer prescribed medications, change dressings, clean wounds, and monitor vital signs.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition using computerized documentation systems.
• Instruct and educate patients and families as part of a multidisciplinary care planning team.
• Identify nursing problems related to individual patient needs and develop individualized care plans using an interdisciplinary approach.

• Registered Nurse from an accredited school of nursing.
• Current licensure with the Tennessee Board of Nursing.
• Current BLS certification.
• One year of registered nurse experience required.
• NICU or Nursery experience preferred.
