Logistics Business Development Manager (BDM)
Interstate is seeking Logistics Business Development Managers to join our team. The BDM will sell Interstate's services (relocation, storage, logistics, etc.) to commercial and government customers in the DC/MD/Northern VA area.
We are looking for hunters who will identify and qualify new business opportunities, participate in needs assessments (solution selling), lead the creation of solution recommendations and the development of oral and written solution presentations, write proposal responses, and close on business opportunities.
This position includes a strong base salary and an uncapped commissions structure. You would be required to report to our HQ location on-site in Springfield, VA for about the first 30 days, and then the position would be out in the field selling.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Perform market and competitive analyses in targeted geographies, markets, and industries to identify new business development opportunities. Assess unusual situations, interpret data using statistical and visual modeling methods (e.g., regression analysis, flowcharts, diagrams), and independently develop action plans for addressing these opportunities.
- Register new business development opportunities in the company’s CRM database.
- Produce and present client management reports, with interpretation of findings and recommendations for future action.
- Manage the full life cycle of the proposal response process, from identification and analysis of RFPs to final production and submission of proposals.
- Create, manage and maintain a company wide proposal library, including previous RFPs, submissions, and proposals.
- Collaborate on the development of engaging and informative business development content, ensuring consistent tone, voice, perspective and alignment with brand guidelines and standards.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration, communications or a technical field preferred.
- At least four (4) years of business/capture development experience in B2B or B2G verticals, with a preference for transportation, relocation, and logistics.
- Must be a subject-matter expert selling into one of these verticals: aerospace, government, technology, arts/museums, or healthcare.
- Self-motivated with a thorough understanding of winning strategies.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Adobe, and sales force automation (MS CRM preferred).
- Zoom Info experience highly preferred.
- Ability to travel.
