Lead Mechanical Engineer
EMCOR Government Services, Inc. is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer (ME) to serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all mechanical systems supporting a major customer in the intelligence community located in Springfield, Virginia. The Lead ME is a key member of a team of dedicated professionals delivering a wide range of base operations support services—including installation, facility operations, maintenance and repair, workforce and security support, logistics support, and project management—for a 2.5‑million‑square‑foot headquarters building, adjacent customer buildings, and over 100 satellite sites throughout the Washington National Capitol Region (NCR).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the principal manager responsible for the overall management and operation of mechanical systems supporting the base operations support (BOS).
- Advise mechanical technicians in troubleshooting and resolving mechanical system malfunctions.
- Develop, implement, and regularly review all preventive maintenance plans for mechanical systems and components to ensure compliance with OEM standards.
- Perform overall capacity management of mechanical systems to balance current and future demand requirements.
- Maintain building calculations to manage available supply in relation to required loads.
- Ensure building modifications comply with all code requirements and original design intent.
- Oversee the timely application of government and local regulations, codes, standards, policies, and procedures related to mechanical system operations and management.
- Work closely with the client to understand their needs and communicate performance standards to contract staff and vendors.
- Establish and maintain an effective relationship with the customer to achieve mutually beneficial business outcomes.
- Identify and implement improvements to mechanical systems operations and service delivery processes to ensure high‑quality goods and services are delivered on time and within cost.
- Maintain accurate documentation and perform analysis as necessary to improve contract performance.
- Proactively seek client feedback, attend meetings, submit reports, and assist auditors and inspectors.
Security Clearance Requirement
This position requires an Active Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) Clearance.
Qualifications
- Licensed Mechanical Professional Engineer (PE) in one of the 50 U.S. states, territories, or possessions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Facility Management, Construction Management, Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Structural), or a related field; a degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
- At least 7 years of experience managing and operating facilities and systems of similar size, scope, and complexity.
- Strong technical knowledge of facilities maintenance and operations, including complex mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural systems, vertical transportation, and data center operations.
- Highly developed leadership, management, supervisory, interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead in a diverse, dynamic environment with short‑notice taskings and under high‑pressure situations.
- Experience with building management systems such as CMMS, BAS, and EPMS; individual certifications are highly desired.
- Knowledge and experience with Reliability‑Centered Maintenance is a plus.
- Industry‑recognized certification in Program and/or Project or Facility Management (e.g., PMP, PgMP, CFM) is desirable.
