Cimarron is seeking a Facilities Mechanical Engineer to support a classified program in Springfield, VA. In this role, you will lead the design, maintenance, and configuration management of building mechanical systems across mission‑critical facilities. This position offers the opportunity to apply deep technical expertise and creative problem‑solving to ensure the reliability, efficiency, and sustainability of essential infrastructure.
Key Duties- Lead mechanical design and development efforts from concept through production.
- Create and review AutoCAD design documents, submittals, and site‑specific specifications.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—including electrical, systems, software, and manufacturing—to ensure mechanical designs meet all functional and environmental requirements.
- Conduct engineering analyses to validate mechanical designs under operational conditions.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive site documentation.
- Troubleshoot design and maintenance issues; recommend and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, energy standards, and industry regulations.
- Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
- Active TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph (or higher).
- Position requires access to federal facilities; candidates must possess a valid, unexpired Real‑‑compliant driver's license or state‑issued identification card at the time of hire.
- 8 or more years of experience in mechanical system design, including HVAC and plumbing, for commercial, industrial, or government facilities.
- Strong working knowledge of building codes, energy standards, and regulatory frameworks.
- Proven ability to perform heating and cooling load calculations, ductwork sizing/layout, piping system design, and equipment selection.
- Demonstrated expertise in CAD tools such as AutoCAD.
- Experience developing mechanical systems for commercial HVAC applications.
- Ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
- Familiarity with Facility Management Control Systems (FMCS).
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure within one year of hire.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Experience in troubleshooting and repairing control systems.
